The Role of Independent Domestic Violence Advisors

What is an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor?

An Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) is here to support you and help to address your safety.  They support victims of Domestic Violence, serving as the primary point of contact to dicuss the range of suitable options and develop a safety plan.

IDVAs are proactive in implementing the plans, which address immediate safety, including practical steps to protect victims and their children from harm, as well as longer term solutions.

IDVAs support and signpost victims of Domestic Violence who do not want Police involvement. They will help address any issues around Domestic Violence, such as Housing, Civil and Criminal Law as well as safety measures.
